1.  How do I access the online application system?

2.  How do I register to apply online?

After accessing the following website https://apply.leeschools.net/appentry/  you will be prompted to create a user id and password. 

Be ready to record the USER ID and PASSWORD that you assign to yourself after you have registered with the system. If you have never applied online with the School District of Lee County, you are considered a "new user," and will need to register for a USER ID and PASSWORD.

4.  How do I navigate through the online application?

The easiest way to complete the application is to fill out each screen then click the 'Continue' button to proceed to the next screen. The list of sections on the left side will keep you informed of your progress. The current section is indicated by and completed sections are indicated by . On each screen required fields are indicated by .

5.  How can I review my online application?

You can review your entire application by clicking on "Review and Print" at the left menu of the online application.

6.  Security Questions Information  

At the time of employment your fingerprints will be researched by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Sealed or expunged records must be revealed to The School District of Lee County pursuant to Florida Statutes. Your employment with The School District of Lee County is temporary and probationary pending successful background clearance. The security questions must be answered truthfully. A “Yes” answer to any of the following questions, does not automatically keep you from being hired. Your omission or falsification of any criminal history information is a cause for dismissal from employment (misdemeanor or felony, see below for examples of criminal offenses).

EXAMPLES OF CRIMINAL OFFENSES: Assault/battery, auto theft, disorderly conduct, domestic violence, DUI/DWI/DWAI, fraud (welfare/food stamps), loitering, prostitution/solicitation, robbery, shoplifting, theft (grand/petty), trespassing, worthless checks. NOTE: This is not a complete list and is intended to provide examples only. You must list all records including juvenile incidents and those in which adjudication was withheld and/or records were sealed/expunged.

IMPORTANT – READ CAREFULLY BEFORE COMPLETING THE SECURITY QUESTION ON THE ONLINE APPLICATION.

The School District of Lee County will receive information on all records, including juvenile and those that have been sealed, expunged, or where adjudication was withheld. To omit a response or to be untruthful in your response, regardless of any previous information received from an attorney, a judge, or any third party, will be considered falsification of your application and is a cause for dismissal from employment.

7.  How do I submit my online application?

Submit the application electronically by clicking the "submit" button in the "Submit Application" section of the application. Please note that you will be unable to submit the application if left incomplete (incomplete sections are flagged with a red square on the left menu).

8.  Do I need to complete the entire online application each time I wish to apply for a position?

After submitting a complete application, you will not have to fill out the entire application again in the future, if applying for positions at another time. Your data will reappear the next time you login to your application to add positions. However, if you do not become employed with the district within one year, then your data may be deleted.

9.  Can I save my online application and return at a later time?

If you have not finished entering information, you may come back later and complete the online application. Your unsubmitted data will be saved for 72 hours before it will expire and be deleted. When you are ready to continue working on the application, revisit this site and log in with your User ID and password.

10.  What if I want to apply for positions in another category (administrative, instructional, or support)?

If you wish to apply for positions in more than one category, choose one to complete at this time and come back to complete the other(s). Common information between the applications will be stored so you will not have to re-enter it.

11.  Can I update my online application?

After you have submitted a complete application, you may re-enter the system at any time to update or make changes to your application. Please note that changes will be sent to Personnel Services only if you click the "Submit" button in the Submit section at the left.

12.  How long will my online application remain active?

Complete applications will remain active for one year. Incomplete applications will be made inactive after 120 days. Please note, an application is not considered complete by the district until all required documents are submitted.

13.  What document are required after submitting the online application?
  • At least three (3) completed Non-Confidential Reference Forms. 
  • Official transcripts bearing the seal of the institution showing conferral of an Associates degree or higher (or at least 60 semester hours of college credit) are required. (Please do not have your transcripts sent directly to Personnel Services from the college.) Or verification of a minimum of four (4) years work experience. Please use attached form for Verification of Non-Instructional Work Experience.
  • A copy of your Social Security Card (on a separate sheet of paper).
  • A copy of your Driver’s License (on a separate sheet of paper).
  • A copy of your Resident Alien Card (if applicable). If you are not a citizen of the United States, you must provide copies of supporting documentation showing that you are authorized to reside and work within the United States.
  • DD-214 form if you are claiming Veteran Preference.
  • If applicable, provide your date of retirement under the Florida Retirement System.
  • Resume (this is optional, but highly recommended)

14.  How do I submit requested documents?

Print and complete the Document Submission  form and attach the necessary documentation. Do not mail the document submission form and attached materials until you have completed the online application.

15.  How many references are required?

At least three (3) completed Non-Confidential Reference Forms are required. It is the applicant’s responsibility to send these forms to the people who are listed as references on the online application. The applicant needs to complete the name and address sections of these forms before sending them to the person providing the reference.

16.  Who should complete my references? 

Professional references should include former employers, supervisors, professors, co-workers, etc. who would have first-hand knowledge of your character, personality, and work proficiency. If no professional references exist, list other relevant references (other than relatives). You may forward any letters of reference to the Personnel Services Office.

17.  Are officials transcripts required?  

Official transcripts bearing the seal of the accredited institution showing conferral of an Associates degree or higher (or at least 60 semester hours of college credit).  Official transcripts must be received by Personnel Services in order to be eligible for hire. Please do not have your transcripts sent directly to Personnel from the college. You are required to submit your transcripts with a Document Submission Form.

18.  What happens after I submit my application?

After Personnel Services receives your online application, document submission form and all requested materials (including the three required professional references), allow at least 15 business days for a confirmation letter to arrive via U.S. mail. The letter will confirm that you are cleared to proceed with the employment process and will provide further instructions. Your application may be made inactive if you do not submit all required materials within a reasonable time period.

19.  When should I be fingerprinted?

After the substitute teaching application is completed and you have submitted all required documents you will be sent a letter from Lee County School District Personnel Services with instructions.

20.  When instructed, what do I need to bring with me when fingerprinted?

Hired substitute teacher applicants must present an original Social Security Card and valid Driver’s License to Personnel Services when fingerprinted.

22.  What are the hours of fingerprinting?

Fingerprints will be digitally scanned in Personnel Services from *8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday – Thursday.  (*Extended hours are available during peak hiring months.)

23.  Once I have been instructed, may I make an appointment to be fingerprinted?

24.  How much does it cost to be fingerprinted?

The fingerprinting fee is $56.25.

Users may pay for the service with credit card or money order. No other payment form will be accepted. Credit card payments must be made in advance of the fingerprinting (before reporting to Personnel to have the prints taken). Customers - paying by money order - must bring a $56.25 money order with them to Personnel Services when they wish to be printed.

Credit card payments can be made:

  • Via the Internet at http://www.flprints.com - 24 hours a day/7 days a week;

    or
     

  • By a toll-free telephone call to 877-357-7456 (Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm EST or EDT)

Money orders should be made out to “Fingerprinting Services, LLC” and should be given to Personnel Services.

Please remember to retain your money order receipt as proof of payment. All payments are final once fingerprints are taken.

25.  Can I receive a refund for fingerprinting?

Persons who pre-pay for the service then choose to not be fingerprinted may receive a refund upon written request to FLDOE Account Manager, 3055 Lebanon Road, Bldg. II, Suite 2301, Nashville, TN 37214.

  • Refunds will be processed as a credit to the payer’s credit card.
  • Users may not have fingerprints taken after making a refund request.
  • Refunds will not be issued to customers who pay by money order.

26.  What other paperwork is required for completion of my substitute application file?

When you arrive for fingerprinting, you will be required to present your Social Security Card and Driver’s License for identification purposes. You will also be required to fill out the following forms upon arrival:

  • Information form
  • W-4 form
  • I-9 form
  • Loyalty Oath form

Other forms that will be furnished to the applicant (for take home) will be:

  • Health Certificate Form
  • Work Experience Verification Form
  • Designation of Beneficiary for Final Payroll Wages
  • Preferred Location List

27.  Once I have a completed application and I have been fingerprinted, what is next?

You will receive an admission ticket to the substitute teacher orientation. This admission ticket will provide you with registration instructions. You cannot be admitted to orientation without this admission ticket. Completion of the orientation session is a requirement for substitute teaching for the School District of Lee County.

29.  How do I know which Substitute Orientation session to attend?

There are two orientations for applicant substitutes, Educational Experience Substitute Orientation and Non-Educational Substitute Orientation.  

  • Educational Experience Substitute Orientation is completed by those with experience in a classroom.
     
  • Non-Educational Substitute Orientation is completed by those with no experience in the classroom. This orientation will include an observation of a teacher. Applicant should observe a teacher as soon as possible because it will take 2 to 3 weeks from that date to place applicant on the systems.

30.  What is the Leave Management System?

34.  How do I verify years of teaching for substitute teacher salary credit?

If you have previous years of teaching experience, please send the Instructional Teaching Work Experience Verification Form to your former employer(s). This form should be completed and returned with a Document Submission Form to the following address to ensure proper salary placement.

35.  How do I verify non-instructional work experience?

Four year of verified work experience is required for substitute teacher applicants who do not have a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours of college credit or hold a minimum of an Associates Degree. Please use attached form for Verification of Non-Instructional Work Experience.

36.  How long do I have to submit the Health Certificate Form?

Please have your doctor sign upon completion of a physical exam. Additionally, a Tuberculosis test with results is required. You will have 30 days from your date of employment to submit this to Personnel Services

37.  What should I do if I no longer wish to be a substitute teacher?

Please complete an Ending Substitute Teaching Form and return as instructed on the form.

38.  How long will my substitute teacher status remain active?

Your status as a substitute teacher will remain active as long as you work at least one day during the school year. If you do not work at least one day, your status will be made inactive and you will need to reapply.
